How to Make Tonneau Cover Look New Again? Color & Shine Are Back!

Sometimes it seems impossible how quickly can a tonneau cover get very dirty. You just washed it!

Unfortunately, tonneau covers are literally protectors of your tonneau, and naturally, they are more exposed to dirt and dust than any other part.

best Tonneau Cover

To make tonneau cover look new again, you need to play it by the book - there are some rules for cleaning and maintaining tonneau cover, and I’ll mention them today.

Before you embark on a cleaning trip, check out tonneau covers recommended by Ecodriving. There is undoubtedly a pick for you that will serve you for a long time when you follow these guidelines.

How to Properly Clean Your Tonneau Cover?

Don’t worry; the whole process isn’t rocket science.

#1 How Do You Prepare for the Cleaning Process?

First things first: you cannot jump straight into cleaning your tonneau cover before you prepare all the necessary accessories and take the initial steps.

There are two things to check before you begin because it will be too late later:

  • Observe the side rails to see whether the latches that can be found there are fully functional (i.e., can open and close smoothly). They are also exposed, so rust can affect them.  If it has affected them, it’s better to grease them with oil before you begin with cleaning your tonneau cover (for apparent reasons; grease and clean do not go hand in hand).
  • All the tiny parts that are in contact with the tonneau cover and tonneau area itself should be checked and mounted securely. By this, I mean all the bolts, clamps, etc. Otherwise, you could damage them in the process!

#2 What Accessories Do You Need?

Once you’ve completed the inspection, you’ll need to get everything required to clean your cover.

What you will need depends on the type of tonneau cover based on their construction.

There are soft tonneau covers (mostly made of vinyl), and hard tonneau covers (aluminium-powdered, metal, etc.).

Soft Tonneau Covers

To clean them, you will need:

  • Soft top-brush
  • Wheel brush
    • Cloth (preferably microfiber)
    • Drying towel (preferably microfiber)
  • Garden hose
  • Vinyl tonneau cover cleaner
  • Vinyl tonneau cover protector (not mandatory, but crucial if you want long-lasting results)

Hard Tonneau Covers

They are less complicated and require fewer accessories:

    • A bucket filled with water (preferably, warm, or at least lukewarm - never go with cold)
    • Garden hose (not mandatory here, but it’s helpful if you have it)
  • Soap
  • Microfiber scrubber (can be replaced by a microfiber towel)

#3 Making Your Tonneau Cover Look New Again

Got all the items from the list, according to your type of the tonneau cover?

Good! We’re good to go and talk about the cleaning itself.

Again, there are two ways to clean your tonneau cover, depending on its type.

How to Clean Soft Vinyl Tonneau Covers?

  1. Make sure that your car is parked under shade, or vinyl can expand in the sun.
  2. Use garden hose and water to wash the cover and remove surface dirt.
  3. Spray the cleaner all over the cover.
  4. Use a soft top-brush and scrub the whole cover. If there are some hard-to-reach spots, use a wheel brush. Do not exert too much force; light scrubbing should be enough.
  5. Rinse the cover with a garden hose once you’re done.
  6. Dry it using a microfiber towel.
  7. Spread the cover protector.
  8. Once it’s dry, use the microfiber cloth and scrub it.
  9. Wait around 5 minutes to make sure it’s completely dry, and that’s it!

See? It wasn’t that hard!

How to Clean Hard Tonneau Covers?

  1. Again, park your car under a shade.
  2. Wash off any surface dirt with a garden hose or water from the bucket.
  3. Mix soap and water in the bucket. The ratio should be 50:50.
  4. Dip the microfiber scrubber in the cleaning mixture, and start scrubbing lightly, without too much pressure.
  5. Re-apply the mixture to the most persistent spots in intervals of 5 minutes until they are clean.
  6. Rinse the cover with a garden hose or water from the bucket.
  7. Leave it to dry on its own.

Conclusion

Now you know all the tips and tricks on how to make tonneau cover look new.

In no time, your tonneau cover will back to its glory!

Of course, regular maintaining afterwards is equally important, so that it can REMAIN as good as new for a long time.

Best Hydraulic Jacks in 2020 – For a Stable & Powerful Lift

Hydraulic jacks, bottle jacks, hand jacks - they all refer to the same tool that is an integral part of vehicle maintenance.

They work on Pascal’s principle by generating the pressure that accumulates force for lifting heavy loads (that is, different kinds of vehicles) while exerting minimal manual strength, just like all floor jacks.

I’ve scoured the market to point out the best hydraulic jack in the sea of products vying at your attention. Based on the extensive research, these are the ten best bottle jacks money can buy - no matter whether you are looking for the bottle jack for truck or a lightweight bottle jack.

The 10 Best Hydraulic Jacks Reviews in 2020

Capable of handling the repair needs of an amateur up to professional shops, the Powerbuilt 620471 breaks the ice on my list.

It can safely lift and hold vehicles up to 3 tons (6000lbs). When I say “lift and hold,” it means that this is a combination of a hydraulic bottle jack and a jack stand.

Moreover, once the jack reaches the desirable height (it can lift anywhere from 11 to 21 inches), there is a safety bar that locks the unit. Safety always comes first, and this is a necessary factor for me to consider adding a jack to my lists.

Another thing that I considered was how easy it is to store a jack. Namely, this jack is around 9x9 inches in the base, and approximately 13 inches tall. Thus, I can tell you it’s very convenient to store.

Although this jack is intuitive to use, I found instructions to be ridiculously complicated. They say, “You have to apply jack pressure to unlock the safety.” Why not make it simpler? In other words, raise the jack a bit above the desirable height, and lift the latch while you’re lowering it.

Pros:

  • You don’t need a separate jack stand
  • Low price
  • Sturdy and reliable
  • Has a safety bar
  • Doesn’t take up much room

Cons:

  • Complicated instructions

If you’re looking for a good bottle jack made in the USA, Powerbuilt 620471 is more than that. It is the highest-quality bottle jack for lifted trucks, and will easily elevate your trailer or SUV.

The Altrade 640912 bottle jack competes well with the previous pick from the same company, Powerbuilt.

Actually, they do not differ much, and which one you will get ultimately comes to your personal preference. Before you decide, let me introduce the second pick, too.

Just like its brother, this jack lifts and holds vehicles up to 3 tons, which means you won’t need an extra jack stand to support it. I can confirm that it is reliable and stable.

I noticed that this one even had been slightly upgraded in terms of safety. Namely, the extra-wide steel base really gives you confidence about its stability under load. It doesn’t lack the safety bar, either, that keeps the jack from lowering once you lift it to the desired height. The height range is the same (11-21 inches).

Another ode goes to the straightforward lift that is warranted by a high-quality long handle (18 inches).

The biggest difference I noticed between the first two models is also the biggest flaw of this jack. It requires quite a bit of maintenance so that it stays reliable and safe, and to prevent oil leakages.

Pros:

  • Enhanced safety with wide & flat base
  • Premium construction
  • Compact
  • Versatile; suitable for small and large vehicles
  • Converts into a jack stand

Cons:

  • Complex maintenance

This is the best bottle jack for SUV, Jeep, trucks, etc. If you want a low-profile jack with lower ground clearance, search elsewhere!

Big Red line of jacks is the signature of high-quality, sleek hydraulic bottle jacks. This is the least expensive model in the line.

Who is it for?

It is for those of you who want to have a high-quality compact hydraulic bottle jack on the go with you, in your trunk, in your shop, or in your garage. It’s not the best bottle jack for Jeep or heavy vehicles, but it performs exquisitely.

The reason why I say you can carry it with you on the road stems from its built. It was engineered using drop-forged alloy steel that is less heavy than some other kinds of material.

I also liked how there was no oil leakage, which is often a problem with hydraulic bottle jacks. There is a built-in oil-bypass valve that prevents this.

That valve is pure gold because it also prevents any overload of the jack. If you go beyond its limits, i.e., 4000lbs, it will automatically block the jack.

Considering these safety features, it’s no miracle that Torin Big Red meets ASME PASE safety standards.

Good as it is, 2 tons may not be enough for everyone.

Pros:

  • Quality construction
  • Compact and portable
  • There are extension screws for adjusting the weight
  • Best design
  • Excellent value for the price

Cons:

  • 2T is the lowest lift weight capacity (especially compared to its sibling on the list)

While 2T capacity may not cater to every user’s needs, if it does to yours, definitely consider the Torin Big Red.

Pro-Lift is probably one of the most recognizable names when it comes to car tools, and they have manufactured two bottle jacks that have ranked to the top of this category.

First, make some space for the highest-quality bottle jack, B-004D.

This is one of the most popular and best-selling bottle jacks, so I was very excited when I got to try it out.

With great pleasure, I can say that it outperformed all the other jacks and that it earned my highest grades on all fronts.

First and foremost, a 4T weight capacity infers that this is a good bottle jack for RV as well as for cars, as it doesn’t have high ground clearance. This doesn’t come at the expense of the lifting range, which is great (8 - 15-⅜ inches).

For instance, it comes with a convenient two-piece handle and a steel lifting saddle that has heat-treated critical stress areas. It means that this bottle jack lasts for ages to come!

It has one visible flaw - if you use it horizontally, the chances are that you will experience some leaks. This didn’t happen every time I used it horizontally, but it cannot go unmentioned.

However, I don’t think this is a terrible thing, considering that it doesn’t take up much space when it is vertically placed.

Pros:

  • High-quality handle
  • Extension screws
  • Allows height adjustment
  • Durable
  • Comes with excellent oil

Cons:

  • Oil leaking in the horizontal position

All in all, it is a good, compact hydraulic jack that is basically a bargain!

Are you ready for this beast? Cause I certainly wasn’t.

When it arrived, I thought to myself, “Wow, how can I even test a 20-ton (40000lbs) lifting weight range?”

You name it, this air hydraulic bottle jack that comes from the best bottle jack brand for heavy-duty jobs can lift it. I tested it out with heavy-duty machinery, industrial construction equipment, more vehicles at the time, farm vehicles, and more, and it performed consistently well.

I liked how it can lift up very high regardless of the fact that the weight limit is much higher than with most of the other bottle jacks. The lifting range is between 10-7/16 to 20-1/16’’.

Now, you won’t lift 20T only by your manual force, will you? That’s why this bottle jack has two lifting modes: manual and pneumatical. If you opt for the latter to lift a heavy vehicle, the air pressure range of 100 to 175 PSI is incredibly powerful. You can control the speed via a button.

My objection, however, is to the oil leaking, again. You cannot use this bottle jack in the horizontal position.

Pros:

  • Manual & pneumatic at the same time
  • Powered by a powerful motor
  • High-quality non-corrosive oil included
  • Safe to use
  • Long handle

Cons:

  • Fluid leaks

If you stand in need of the most potent bottle jacks on the market, my wholehearted recommendations go to the Torin Big Red 20T!

The Powerbuilt 647501 bottle jack has several features that some models that are three times as expensive lack.

I must praise the versatility of this heavy-duty red jack first. It accounts for most of the needs with its incredible weight limit of 12 tons (24000lbs).

Sometimes, when such a heavy-duty device is in question, it can become overly complicated to use it, but I’m glad to report that the 647501 was quite easy and intuitive to work with.

Another thing that I consider crucial for this kind of tool is how safe they are. Powerbuilt passed this test with flying colors, as well! There are a pin-style release valve and the extension screws for a secure lift.

One thing to consider is that this bottle jack has the maximum lift height of 16-5/16 inches, which is lower than with many other jacks. There might be some crouching involved!

Pros:

  • Following ANSI standards
  • Oversized, stable base
  • Easy to work with
  • Sleek design
  • An excellent choice for professional shops
  • Reliable

Cons:

  • Lower lift height than my other picks

Any RV owner who needs a powerful tool and a good bottle jack for off-road will not make a mistake with this hydraulic bottle jack!

Are you after the best 20-ton air hydraulic bottle jack?

Then the Pro-Lift B-020D might be for you.

I included it because of its quality construction, safety features, and, above all, functionality.

Based on my tests with competing jacks that have a 20-ton load capacity, this is the most compact bottle jack. It even comes with a built-in system that protects it over travel.

I’ve seen some people commenting on how the lifting height of this bottle jack isn’t good enough, but I consider it great. The maximum lift height of 14 inches is excellent for the jack that raises that wide range of vehicles!

When I add to it the heavy-duty wide iron base that provides additional stability, it is clear how carefully this bottle jack was manufactured so that it exceeds the ANSI standards.

Lastly, 90 days of warranty seems a bit short. I don’t think that you will have any problems with this bottle jack whatsoever, but it could have been at least one year!

Pros:

  • Can lift 20T
  • Heat-treated saddle
  • Extension screws for an easy adjustment
  • Secure grip
  • Compact

Cons:

  • Short warranty

Heavy-duty vehicle owners who are looking for something more affordable should definitely check out this hydraulic bottle jack!

While we are at the heavyweight category, here’s another 20-ton bottle jack, produced by Performance Tool.

We had a red modern hydraulic bottle jack previously, and this one’s similar, but bright yellow. It will surely attract anyone who comes to your garage or your repair shop!

But what matters is its performance.

My tests revealed that Performance Tool allows for a fast and reliable lift of vehicles up to 20 tons with a minimum amount of effort.

When I see that a bottle jack can carry such a heavy load, I always check out how optimized it is for unforeseen circumstances that can be very dangerous in this situation.

For that matter, it packs a steel lifting saddle for load gripping power and a built-in safety bypass device that doesn’t allow overpumping that can result in damage.

Not only that - the critical central areas are heat-treated for a more durable tool and additional protection.

It is not on the slim side (which is normal, when you consider the power that it has), but the two-piece handle is folding for easy storage.

Perhaps the packaging could have been better; it arrived in a box that easily got damaged and couldn’t serve for storage.

Pros:

  • Steel saddle for a smooth & secure lift
  • Extra-stable wide base
  • Two-piece pump handle
  • Safety features
  • Suitable for all vehicles, even the heaviest

Cons:

  • Unsatisfactory packaging

The Big Yellow bottle jack by Performance Tool is waiting for you and your repair shop!

My next pick belongs to the category of those hydraulic bottle jacks that come with a bit of a lavish price tag.

Is it worth it?

If you want to invest in a quality heavy-duty tool, then yes.

It has everything you could possibly want of a bottle jack: the power to lift any vehicle, sturdy construction, low ground clearance, functionality.

I called it a “lifting machine” - when connected to an air compressor via its ¼-inch air nipple or a 48-inch rubber hose, it lifts the vehicle incredibly fast to a maximum of 20 inches.

Then again, it allows for versatility. If you don’t own a compressor, or simply dislike using it, the package includes a two-piece jack handle for manual lifting. It may require more time, but it will still be easy and quick.

A pro tip: When you use it with the compressor, I recommend between 50 to 125 PSI for best results.

It was tested each day of the week over a few months, and it performed very well each time. It still looks as good as new.

Again, the only factor that may be the problem is its high price. But considering what it offers in return, if you're in doubt - do buy this bottle jack!

Pros:

  • Heavy-duty steel construction
  • Effortless lift
  • Quality rubber hose and valve
  • Lower clearance than other models
  • Two operating modes
  • Noiseless

Cons:

  • Pricey

I recommend this bottle jack to everyone who needs a premium tool for a serious and heavy-duty job! The steep price will pay off.

There is one more bottle jack that deserves a review on today’s list because it scored high on my tests, the US JACK D-51125.

One of the rare 100% American-made hydraulic bottle jacks sports a heavy-duty construction with a ductile-iron wide base, which makes it stable and secure.

WIth 12-ton capacity and 15-¼’’ lift height, it will cater to most user’s needs. I also wanted to go beyond its limits and use a screw extender, and the maximum height I managed to reach was 19-½’’, which is fantastic.

When I say “heavy-duty construction,” I mean iron castings on the cap, electroless nickel steel ram, and a steel pump piston.

Although there are a few 20-ton picks on my list that can carry even heavier machinery, 12-ton capacity is nowhere light, so safety features are essential..

The bypass system prevents you from overloading, which can damage both the jack and your vehicle and injure you. Did I try it out? Of course! It won’t let you go beyond the weight limits. Therefore, it meets ASME and PASE hydraulic bottle jack standards.

The only thing I didn’t like is the two-piece handle. It felt a bit cheaper than with some other bottle jacks, though it performed just fine.

Pros:

  • Stop ring to prevent damage
  • Reliable
  • Smooth performance
  • Stainless steel construction
  • Anti-rust materials

Cons:

  • The handle is not the best

This 100% USA-made bottle jack will serve you for all types of vehicles, from cars to heavy-duty trucks. And it will last a lifetime!

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are bottle jacks any good?

Are you a driver?

Do you want to take proper care of your vehicle?

If the answers are “yes,” then bottle jacks are one of the most useful things you can get.

They can lift your vehicle higher than floor jacks, take less space, and carry much more weight. The only downside is that they are a bit challenging to set up.

Of course, not every bottle jack is good - you want to look for a highest-quality bottle jack, which I basically did instead of you. You just need to decide which one out of the ten suits your needs the best.

2. Why are bottle jacks so cheap?

Generally, bottle jacks come at the price range of around $30 to $150. While some may argue that this isn’t cheap, believe me, for the functionality and utility that you get - it is.

Luckily, most of the manufacturers have come up with efficient formulae for producing high-quality and sturdy hydraulic bottle jacks at an affordable price, so that nowadays you can find an excellent bargain!

3. How much weight can a bottle jack lift?

I specialize in bottle jacks that work for cars and heavy vehicles, so I have not tested all bottle jacks that are used for major industrial jobs, but the maximum lift capacity of bottle jacks is around 100 tons (200 000 pounds).

How unbelievable is that?!

When it comes to bottle jacks that I deal with, most of my picks can lift from 2 to 4T, which I consider appropriate for most types of vehicles.

I’ve made sure to include the best hydraulic bottle jack (actually, a couple) that can lift as much as 20T if you want to own a beast!

4. What size bottle jack is needed to lift a house?

While I don’t recommend jacking up the house on your own without some professional assistance, I do have some experience with this.

The size of the bottle jack that you need for this task depends on the size and construction of the house.

To lift a corner of a house, a 12-T hydraulic bottle jack might be enough.

For a whole-house lift, you will need at least four of those, if not more.

Again, please, be safe while doing this! You can not only do considerable damage to the construction but also hurt yourself!

Conclusion

Now you know everything needed to get the best hydraulic jack for you.

The bottle jacks that I presented to you today prove that car maintenance is not a luxury and that it is an efficient way of prolonging your vehicle’s durability, as well as enhancing your safety.

When looking for a hydraulic bottle jack, try to consider how often you will use it and for what.

If the answer is “rarely,” you will be able to function with an entry-level pick, such as the Pro-Lift B-004D.

But if your needs require you to use it regularly and for heavy vehicles, you’re better off with a premium pick like the Torin Big Red that will last for ages.

Best Low Profile Floor Jacks in 2020 – Minimum Height & Maximum Power

Everyone who has at least dabbled into vehicles and vehicle care knows how important it is to own a good floor jack.

This useful tool allows you to lift your vehicle to perform necessary repairs and changes on it, as well as provides the necessary help on the road if you have it in your trunk.

What if you cannot accommodate the floor jack under your vehicle because it sits too low? No matter how compact your floor jack is, it simply won’t fit underneath!

This can be quite frustrating and common, especially if you own a sports car that is only a few inches above the ground.

What you need is the best low profile floor jack that will account for all such cases.

Top 10 Best Low Profile Floor Jacks

1. Arcan 2 Ton Low Profile Quick Rise Steel Floor Jack XL20

best-low-profile-floor-jacks

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/39YjRs9" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

Unlike traditional floor jacks, the Arcan 2-ton low profile jack is one of those jacks for lowered cars - precisely, those that weigh 2 tons and less.

One of its main attributes that I liked is how user-friendly it is. Firstly, there is a universal joint release mechanism that provides precise and easy control of the jack enhanced with dual pump pistons that quickly raise the floor jack saddle in order to load it.

Also, I felt perfectly safe while using it - there is a protective rubber saddle and a foam handle bumper on a two-piece handle, which allows for easy storage. It doesn’t occupy a lot of space, and the overall dimensions are 26 x 13.2 x 6.3 inches.

I want to praise the high-quality construction of the jack, as well. The wheels and body of the jack are made of stainless steel, and the lift range of the jack goes from 3.5 to 18.1 inches.

My thoughts on safety have been backed up with the fact that this jack compiles with rigorous ASME PALD safety standards.

The only negative thing that I need to mention is this is a heavy jack, although they advertise it as lightweight.

Pros:

  • Durable wheels
  • The handle can be in any position to lower the car
  • You can slip it anywhere
  • Heavy-duty construction
  • Raises quickly

Cons:

  • It is heavy

I can’t say anything more but sing praises to Arcan for producing such a quality jack for low cars!

2. Pittsburgh Automotive 3 Ton Heavy Duty Ultra Low Profile Steel Floor Jack

best-low-profile-floor-jacks

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/3aZ3oUL" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

Speaking of a jack that can take any professional heavy-duty job, I cannot skip Pittsburgh Automotive - a 3T-capacity beast!

Right out of the box, I perceived how good it looks, although this is not of prime importance to me. But the sleek red design cannot go unmentioned!

What is crucial for it to enter my best floor jack for lowered car list, though, is how satisfied I was with the performance of this low profile floor jack.

I’m a witness that this jack is exceptionally safe. However, it does not come with jack stands (just like all of the automotive low profile auto jacks), and it serves for a temporary lift of the vehicle.

Before exposing any part of your body underneath a car for a more serious repair than a change of a tire, always use jack stands.

Once you connect the jack, the Rapid Pump dual pump system lifts your vehicle almost effortlessly.

Even for the highest lift, you’ll need only around six pumps. The maximum height it can reach is 19-¾’’, and it sits as low as 2.75 inches above the ground.

Lastly, I must admit that this jack is big and heavy (around 70 lbs). I wouldn’t carry it in the trunk.

Pros:

  • Quick pump
  • Industrial-grade construction
  • Excellent design
  • Great value for the price
  • Steel wheels
  • Strong

Cons:

  • Robust & heavy

All in all, this jack is a real bang for the buck in the category of low profile jacks for low cars.

3. Arcan ALJ3T 3-Ton Quick Rise Aluminum Floor Jack

best-low-profile-floor-jacks

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/33pXIk7" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

Another low profile floor jack from Arcan?

What can I say, they have devoted their carefully utilized line of products to cater to every user’s needs!

Straight off: if you’re looking for a lower-priced low profile racing jack, search elsewhere. However, if you’re in for a premium model that includes everything a driver dreams of, keep reading about the ALJ3T by Arcan.

I was pleased to learn that it is made of lightweight aircraft-grade aluminium.

Now, there has always been a dilemma - Are steel floor jacks more durable and quality than aluminium ones?

As a rule of the thumb, yes. But always?

Certainly not. And this one is the sole proof of that!

The fact that it is made of such a high-quality aluminium means that it is not only resistant and sturdy, but also very lightweight, and that’s the main difference. This floor jack can be your companion on the road, too!

It is both made for professional use and any car service, but it is also easy enough to use for regular users. Namely, the reinforced lift arm and a side-mount two-piece handle allow for convenient jack positioning and effortless lift.

As I noted, its only downside is the fact that you’ll be paying a steep price for it (but it’s well worth it).

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Perfectly safe
  • Meets ASME safety standards
  • Quickly raises the vehicle

Cons:

  • Pricey

During the testing period, this floor jack outperformed in all fields. If you want to invest in a premium low profile jack, this is the one!

4. Pro-Lift F-767 Grey Low Profile Floor Jack

Next up is the hydraulic automotive jack, Pro-Lift F-767, that offers a lot of functionality and reliability with surprisingly low price.

I was pleased to discover that this extra-low profile jack has a lifting range of 3-1/2 to 14 inches, and it can hold 2 tons.

Of course (as I always do), I had to put it under a little test - what will happen if I slightly overload it?

The built-in safety valve immediately was activated, so that you can rest assured that the F-767 is 100% safe, even if you accidentally overload it.

Just like with all quality steel floor jacks, you can expect durability. What I want to add is that this jack is not bulky and heavy like some can be - it weighs around 30 pounds, which cannot be considered light, of course, but it is less compared to other steel jacks.

Still, I cannot guarantee it is compact enough to fit in each trunk, but it’s a great choice to have in your garage.

Bonus points for the package - the box that the jack comes in is pretty sturdy. Once you remove the cardboard, the jack easily slides back in the box, so you can use it for storage and protection.

In comparison to my other picks, this floor jack has a bit higher clearance - 4 inches - but still satisfactory enough for it to be called a low profile floor jack.

Pros:

  • Durable
  • Long and convenient handle (19.5 inches)
  • Compatible with all kinds of hydraulic oil
  • Sturdy, but lightweight

Cons:

  • A bit higher clearance compared to other jacks

I can tell that there is some kind of stigma surrounding products that are not made in the USA but in China - and I cannot really see why.

A wide variety of best items (including floor jacks) is produced there and tested in the US so that it is assured that they meet our safety standards.

The Sunex 66002LP is no different - it is on a par with most low profile steel floor jacks that are durable and will serve you for a long time.

It also happens to be the lowest car jack on my list, with only 2.75’’ minimum height. To lift it up to the maximum height, 24’’, you need around six to seven pumps with dual pump pistons. This height is enough for cars, pick-ups and SUVs. No more crouching!

What also makes it adaptable to various vehicles is its versatile construction and easy-to-access connecting points.

Another benefit I want to tackle is safety. Namely, the rubber saddle and a foam handle bumper prevent any vehicle damage, and wide front wheels, along with swivel rear casters are stable.

The quality of the handle disappointed me a bit; I think that it’s not as durable as the rest of the jack. Kudos to its length, though (45.25’’)!

Pros:

  • Great maneuverability
  • Made of high-quality materials
  • Not too heavy
  • Quick lift
  • Flexible
  • Low clearance

Cons:

  • Plastic handle

As a seasoned mechanic, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Sunex 660LP to all semi-professional drivers!

6. Liftmaster 3 Ton Heavy Duty Ultra Low Profile Steel Floor Jack with Quick Lift

best-low-profile-floor-jacks

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/2IUp7kB" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

Another gem I found in the overflowing market is the Liftmaster ultra-low steel floor jack.

What you will enjoy as much as I did is the power that this sleek jack offers - 3 tons, with a 3-inch low profile!

Just like most of the premium picks on the market, it is equipped with the dual pump system for lifting. I want to say that I had no problems with jammed pistons, that I saw as something that customers mentioned, so I particularly paid attention to it.

When I tested it, I estimated that the time it needs to lift the vehicle is 40 seconds sharp (wow)!

Not only its speed is impressive, but the height, as well. It can go as high as 17 inches.

Safety? Checked! The two-piece knurled handle has the foam bumper, and the rubber pad is strengthened for minimal friction.

I was also satisfied with the quality of the wheels. They seem expensive and stable.

My experience with maintaining this car jack was a bit of a pain in the neck - you need to protect it and clean it regularly, more often than you would typically do with a floor jack.

Pros:

  • 3 tons of capacity
  • Safety features
  • Sleek design
  • Sturdily built
  • Ultra-low

Cons:

  • Difficult to maintain
  • Doesn’t take hydraulic oil

In spite of the time it consumes to be properly maintained, this low profile steel floor jack is one of the best heavy-duty tools that you can currently buy!

7. Pittsburgh 1.5 Ton Compact Aluminum Racing Jack

best-low-profile-floor-jacks

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/3d4UZB4" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

This jack by Pittsburgh is the kind of a low-profile car jack that everyone wants to own because it is extremely portable, versatile, and useful.

Let’s break down the things that I liked and disliked about this model.

First and foremost, when I compared all of the floor jacks that made its way to my list, this one deserves to be crowned the most compact low profile floor jack.

Along with its compactness, the whole construction is impressive, as well. It was made of lightweight aircraft aluminium with a sapphire anodized finish.

Not only its body is made of premium materials, but the handle, as well. It is a knurled aluminum handle with foam bumper for a comfortable grip and safe user experience.

It can go as high as 14 - ¾ inches in only three and a half pumps. That’s less than 30 seconds! I also liked how the universal joint release provides a precise load control in any handle position, which means that beginners can also use this jack.

All these advantages come at the expense of this tool’s power. It can lift vehicles that are up to 1.5 ton heavy. Still, this will cater to many users!

Pros:

  • Low profile (3-⅜ inches)
  • Premium materials
  • Lightweight
  • You can carry it anywhere you want
  • Easy to work with

Cons:

  • 1.5 tons of weight capacity might not be enough for all users

If you’re stuck in the process of selecting a low-profile floor jack that you can bring with you on any travel, this is the one!

8. Powerbuilt 620479E Xtra Low Profile Floor Jack

best-low-profile-floor-jacks

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/2xLbNwL" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

One of the best 2-ton low profile floor jacks that I’ve tried out is the Powerbuilt 620479E.

What distinguishes this floor jack from the others is that it has the capability to raise and hold vehicles without the support of a jack stand. It has a built-in safety bar that should be put under the lift arm for this purpose.

At first, I suspected it would be a problem to release the safety latch safely, but it’s quite simple to pump up the jack a little and lift the latch while you’re lowering it. Unfortunately, this is a bit awkwardly explained in their manual.

If you’re looking for the best low profile floor jack for racing and sports cars, search elsewhere. Because of its clearance and construction, I recommend it for SUV’s, Jeeps, trucks, etc.

To further make this jack user-friendly, the manufacturers made sure it is compatible with most kinds of hydraulic oil.

I’ve installed and used hundreds of floor jacks, and I’ve read the same amount of manuals (though I usually don’t use them). This one wasn’t really clear or intuitive, though it is not difficult to install the jack and use it.

Pros:

  • Fits a wide variety of vehicles
  • Can fit in the trunk
  • Excellent construction
  • Comes fully assembled
  • Doesn’t take up much space

Cons:

  • The instruction manual isn’t straightforward

If your needs are such that you need a low profile jack for semi-professional use, I can confirm that the Powerbuilt 620479E is a great choice.

9. Neiko Pro 20272B Premium Low Profile Aluminum Floor Jack

Investing in the best jack doesn’t just make all the repairs more convenient, but it can prevent any unforeseen circumstances on the road.

Initially, it wasn’t clear to me why this floor jack is that expensive. However, I soon found myself amazed with a number of its features.

Namely, it was constructed from durable, industrial-grade aluminum alloy. This equals ultra-lightweight design for a floor jack while it remains reliable and stable.

The whole process of lifting, every time I tested it out, was flawless. From the dual plunger system that is fast and efficient, to the safety valve that stopped the jack immediately when I tried to overload it, I have only praises.

The other parts don’t skimp on the quality, either. The rubber dotted saddle protects your vehicle from any scratches and dents, and the swivel rear casters enable for easy positioning and use.

Again, there is the elephant in the room - this low profile floor jack costs over $200. But the price is there for a good reason!

Pros:

  • Sturdy, yet lightweight
  • Stable & reliable
  • Loaded with safety options
  • Great handle
  • Premium aluminum

Cons:

  • A hefty price tag

This low profile floor jack does come with a steep price tag, but it is more than a worthy investment if you will use it often, or if you’re a professional in this field.

10. Blackhawk B6350 Black/Red Fast Lift Service Jack

best-low-profile-floor-jacks

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/2v1AEv8" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

As we approach the end of today’s quest, there is one more slim jack for cars I want to introduce you to, the Blackhawk B6350.

I saved the most powerful for the end - as a 3.5-ton low profile floor jack, this beast can lift anything that you want.

Let’s talk about safety first. The universal joint release enables a precise load control in any position of the handle, and the extra-wide steel caster wheels guarantee the necessary stability.

Additionally, there is a built-in safety valve that reacts when you overload the jack, and I can report that it works flawlessly.

If something goes wrong once you receive the jack, it’s good to know that you’re backed with a one-year warranty.

What makes this jack a valuable purchase are not only well-met safety standards but also its functionality. You can lift it up to the maximum height of 22 inches, and it has a very smooth let-down afterwards.

As you can assume, the only downside is that this jack is a bit heavy and large. However, in case you’re wondering, you can detach the handle for easier storage if you loosen a 9/16 bolt.

Pros:

  • Excellent value for the money
  • Incredible 7000lbs of lifting capacity
  • Overload protection
  • Comes pre-filled with oil
  • Easy to position the jack

Cons:

  • Robust and heavy

The biggest reason why I liked the B6350 that much is its power. It will surely leave you without words!

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a low profile floor jack?

A low profile floor jack serves to lift up the car when there is very little room underneath the car.

It may sound unbelievable to you, but they need only around from 2.5 to 4 inches of clearance underneath a vehicle.

So, a low profile floor jack can basically slide wherever you want it to! It is most popular with racing cars and sports cars, but also with car enthusiasts who own a dropped car.

2. How do you use a low profile floor jack?

It is very straightforward to use a low profile floor jack, just like the traditional one:

  1. Secure your wheels, and make sure that the surface is level.
  2. Assemble the low profile floor jack under your car, saddle beneath the lift point.
  3. Pump using the handle until needed and adjust the saddle fully under the lift point.
  4. When your car is lifted to the height that you need, use jack stands if you need to do longer repairs.

Remember: safety always comes first, and only when you take these measures are you certain that you’ve used a low profile floor jack correctly.

Conclusion

After testing more than thirty products, I am adamant that the Arcan 2-ton is the best low profile floor jack overall.

If the low cost is higher on your priority list, I recommend my budget pick, the Pro-Lift F-767. It still has all of the required capabilities, but it is made from slightly cheaper materials.

Until next time!

Top 10 Best Aluminum Floor Jacks of 2020 Reviews

A good, reliable floor jack is a must-have for any garage. But with the market overflowing with various options, it’s hard to pin-point what a “good” floor jack is.

For me, a good floor jack is one that’s durable and strong enough to withstand heavy use, yet easy to pick up and use for emergency off-road repairs, too.

The best aluminum floor jack nails that balance perfectly – and to help you pick one out today, I rounded up some of the best options on the market!

The 10 Best Aluminum Floor Jacks in 2020

1. Powerzone 380044 3-Ton Aluminum and Steel Garage Jack

The 10 Best Aluminum Floor Jacks in 2020

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/33sg83T" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

I decided to kick things off with a floor jack that combines aluminum and steel in its construction. As weird as this may be, the best 3 ton aluminum floor jack that I came across turned out to be a hybrid.

The Powerzone’s floor jack combines brute force and strength of a heavy-duty steel lift arm with the light and portable aluminum frame, offering you the best of both worlds.

And if you’re worried that the combination of steel and aluminum may not be as lightweight as you’d prefer, let me stop you right there:

This jack weighs 59 pounds, which is pretty standard for aluminum jacks with a similar capacity. Plus, it comes fitted with wheels, so I’m sure that portability won’t be a problem.

The quick-lift hydraulic system made this one extremely easy to use, as well. Half a dozen pumps and you can lift pretty much any vehicle to a maximum height of 18.25 inches.

It does fall on the pricey side, but I think that it’s well worth the money. That’s up to you, though.

Pros:

  • Combines steel and aluminum in its construction
  • Quick-lifting hydraulic system
  • Protective padding on the handle and saddle
  • Safety valve prevents overloading
  • Reasonable weight of 59 pounds

Cons:

  • On the pricey side
The hybrid construction and feature-rich design make this one my top pick. If you want the best of the worlds, it doesn’t get better than the Powerzone floor jack.

If you plan on working on heavier-than-average vehicles, stop wasting your time and energy, and get yourself the Blackhawk B6350.

As you’re about to see, this might just be the best 3.5 ton aluminum floor jack on the market.

It’s capable of lifting loads of up to 7000 pounds – more than most other models on this list – so it’s beefy enough to take on pretty much any truck, car, or SUV with ease. And the best part is that thanks to the unique fast lifting technology, it does so with ease.

Several other features make this an option worth considering, including the impressive maximum lift range of 22 inches and a whole host of safety-oriented features. Plus, I found it easy to position thanks to the swivel saddle.

The only less-than-stellar part of its design is the 85-pound weight. Even though it’s fitted with wheels, it’s still a bit too much to haul around – but you could make it work for garage-only repairs.

Pros:

  • Has a 3.5-ton lifting capacity
  • Fast and easy lifting thanks to dual pump pistons
  • Safety features prevent overloading
  • Easy-to-position swivel saddle
  • Rugged universal joint ensures precise load control
  • Has a lifting range of 22 inches

Cons:

  • It weighs 85 pounds
It’s easy to see why the B6350 is so popular among experienced mechanics and DIY enthusiasts alike – and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better 3.5-ton jack for the money!

3. Arcan ALJ3T 3-Ton Quick-Rise Aluminum Floor Jack

best Arcan ALJ3T 3-Ton Quick-Rise Aluminum Floor Jack

When talking about premium-quality aluminum jacks, the ALJ3T is the one that I’m always happy to recommend.

Yes, it does cost more, but with the lasting dependability and reliability – and everything else it offers – it’s a worthwhile investment for DIY and professional mechanics alike.

The aluminum construction lends this lightweight floor jack its signature durability without compromising portability and ease of use in the process. The result is a jack that can lift loads of up to three tons with ease, but at the same time, weighs no more than 56 pounds.

What’s more, the dual pistons make the lifting fast, smooth, and, most importantly, safe, all while protecting your vehicle with the included foam bumpers and rubber pads.

I’ve had the pleasure of using the ALJ3T more times than I could count, and I’m still to find a single thing to complain about – other than the fact that you’ll have set aside a bit of extra cash for this one, that is.

Pros:

  • Dual pump pistons for quick and easy lifting
  • Reinforced lift arm adds strength
  • Relatively lightweight at 56 pounds
  • Built-in bypass and overload valves for safety
  • Protects the vehicle with foam bumpers and rubber pads

Cons:

  • It’s one of the more expensive options
The Arcan ALJ3T offers quality and performance that professional mechanics know and trust – and if you can afford it, this might be the best 3 ton aluminum floor jack for you, too!

4. Performance Tool W1627 Yellow Steel Frame-Service Jack 3-1/2 Ton Tool

best Performance Tool W1627 Yellow Steel Frame-Service Jack 3-1/2 Ton Tool

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/2wY82n3" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

Now, you’re scratching your head, wondering how a steel unit landed on my list of aluminum floor jacks. The thing is, I saw this one sitting in quite a few garages in the past, and wanted to test it out myself.

Plus, I know that some of you still prefer steel over aluminum.

Although considered compact by the industry’s standards, this jack has an impressive load capacity of 7000 pounds. I’ve tried lifting both low-profile cars and trucks with it, and the dual pump system delivered every single time.

What’s more, the jack goes from a 4-inch minimum to up to 20.5 inches – a substantial range that makes this a highly versatile tool.

Also, I liked that it came fitted with all the essential safety and protective features, including the overload protection and the rubber pad on the jack’s saddle.

Of course, the steel construction brings about excess weight – and lots of it. If you’d prefer something portable, this 85-pound floor jack isn’t it.

Pros:

  • Heavy-duty steel construction
  • 7000-pound load capacity for cars and light trucks
  • Extra-long frame and low-profile design
  • Features a safety valve as overload protection
  • The swivel saddle covered by a rubber pad

Cons:

  • It’s cumbersome
Steel floor jacks come with a lot of excess weight – but if you need a tool that’s tough and rugged, and can hold impressive loads, maybe this Performance Tool is right for you.

5. Arcan 2-Ton Extra-Long Reach Low-Profile Steel Floor Jack XL2T

best Arcan 2-Ton Extra-Long Reach Low-Profile Steel Floor Jack XL2T

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/2wUKcsF" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

When you have a low-clearance vehicle, there’s more to buying the best floor jack than just going with whatever has the most impressive load capacity or the highest lift range. You need something capable of going super low when needed.

In short, you need an ultra low profile aluminum floor jack – and if you ask me, the Arcan XL2T is the perfect fit for you.

This jack dips down to the lowest of lows with its minimum height of 2.75 inches. What’s interesting, though, is that its maximum lift range is equally as impressive, going all the way up to 24 inches.

Plus, it features an extra-long, 32-inch chassis that allows you to get in there and find the best jack points for any given vehicle.

It’s flexibility at its finest!

Do keep in mind that this tool weighs a staggering 97 pounds. It’s not the most lightweight option, but the sturdiness and build quality do justify all that extra weight.

Pros:

  • Heavy-duty jack for low-clearance vehicles
  • Wide lifting range, from 2.75 to 24 inches
  • Extra-long, 32-inch chassis
  • Foam handle bumper and rubber saddle
  • Dual pump pistons for quick lifting
  • Universal joint release for precision and control

Cons:

  • Extremely heavy
If a low clearance is a priority – as might be the case with sports or racing cars – I don’t think that you’ll find a better jack for the job that the Arcan XL2T.

6. Arcan 2-Ton Aluminum Quick-Rise Floor Jack ALJ2T

best Arcan 2-Ton Aluminum Quick-Rise Floor Jack ALJ2T

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/2xCpL41" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

Yes, that’s the third Arcan floor jack on my list. What I can say; the brand’s known for its automotive-related tools, especially floor jacks with a distinctly beautiful – and functional – design that often leaves the competition in the dust.

If you’re sure that you don’t need the versatility of the best 3 ton aluminum floor jack, and that two tons are a suitable lifting capacity for your vehicle, I can’t recommend the ALJ2T enough!

The aircraft-grade, corrosion-resistant aluminum used in its construction ensures reliability and resistance to damage. At the same time, the aluminum keeps the floor jack lightweight – it weighs a mere 50.4 pounds – enough to allow ease of use and portability.

The low-profile design and the lifting range of 3.5 to 19.25 inches further add to the versatility, and I’m glad to report that it doesn’t lack safety-oriented features, either.

And while I do believe that the build quality and performance justify the price tag, you could pretty much get the Arcan’s three-ton floor jack for the money.

Pros:

  • Portable and easy to use thanks to lightweight design
  • Low-profile design with 3.5 to 19.25 lift range
  • Long handle for better leverage
  • Dual pump pistons ensure quick lifting
  • Foam bumper and rubber saddle protect your vehicle
  • Bypass and overload valves

Cons:

  • It’s somewhat pricey
Whether you need a two-ton floor jack for roadside emergencies or occasional at-home car repairs, you can’t go wrong with the portable Arcan ALJ2T.

7. JEGS 80006 4000lb Low-Profile Aluminum Floor Jack

best JEGS 80006 4000lb Low-Profile Aluminum Floor Jack

[su_button url="https://ift.tt/2wRp86n" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

JEGS floor jacks are known for the sleek paint jobs and the coolness factor that is an integral part of the design. It’s what makes them pop in the bunch. But don’t let the appearance fool you:

This floor jack looks fantastic but doesn’t compromise functionality and performance for the sake of good looks.

The aluminum construction delivers on the promise of a lightweight, portable design since the jack weighs in at a mere 49 pounds. Still, it doesn’t skimp out on lifting power, boasting a load capacity of 4000 pounds.

Also, thanks to the low, 3.5-inch clearance, the JEGS 80006 is an exceptional choice for low-slung vehicles – and one of my favorite low-profile floor jacks, too.

There are a few more features that make it incredibly handy and practical and show how well thought out this floor jack is. The 360-degree rotating saddle, the rubber pad that prevents marring, and the 50-inch handle that’s fitted with a protective sleeve come to mind here.

I’m not even sure if this one has any downsides – except maybe for the not-so-affordable price.

Pros:

  • Weighs only 49 pounds
  • 4000-pound lift capacity
  • Suitable for low-clearance vehicles
  • 360-degree rotating saddle with rubber lift pad
  • 50-inch handle with a protective sleeve
  • Wheels and side handles for portability and maneuverability

Cons:

  • A bit pricey
Durable construction, functional design, and insanely good looks – the JEGS 80006 2 ton aluminum floor jack has it all!

8. NOS NSJ0301 3-Ton Aluminum Service Jack

best NOS NSJ0301 3-Ton Aluminum Service Jack

[su_button url="hhttps://https://ift.tt/2WbLwSh" target="blank" style="soft" background="#d60f17" color="#070000" size="7" center="yes" icon="icon: cart-plus" icon_color="#ffffff" text_shadow="0px 0px 0px #000000" rel="nofollow"]CHECK PRICE HERE[/su_button]

When I first saw the NOS NSJ0301, I couldn’t ignore the fact that it’s strikingly similar to the Arcan. If that was your first impression, as well, don’t worry – you’re not imagining things. These two jacks have the same basic design.

Even more so, there are undeniable similarities in their respective performances, too.

The dual pump does an excellent job at lifting heavy loads – rapid lifting is one of its advertised features, after all – and I love the universal joint release, which improves the control over the floor jack at any given moment.

Plus, it’s fitted with a safety valve for protection against overloading.

The aluminum construction with thick side plates comes in at 58 pounds – but the lift capacity of 6000 pounds more than makes up for the few extra pounds of weight.

If it comes down to it, though, go with the Arcan’s floor jack:

The overall durability and quality of individual parts were a bit disappointing here; a wheel fell off after less than a month. That’s unacceptable at this price point.

Pros:

  • Reasonably lightweight aluminum construction
  • Reinforced lift arm
  • Has a 6000-pound load capacity
  • Dual pump piston and universal joint release
  • Includes a safety valve for overloading

Cons:

  • Not as long-lasting as some other models
  • Quality doesn’t justify the price
There’s plenty to love about the NSJ0301 – but I’m still not sure if the overall quality of this floor jack justifies the not so affordable price.

If you want a decently priced, 2.5 ton aluminum floor jack, Big Red Torin racing floor jack might just be the right fit.

Despite what the name implies, this is a relatively compact jack with a 3.9-inch minimum lift range, designed for uses in confined spaces. Construction-wise, it’s the best of both worlds – a combination of aluminum and steel for maximum strength and durability.

Plus, you’re looking at a jack that can lift to 5000 pounds to a height of 18.25 inches without batting an eye, all thanks to the quick-lift design. I counted around seven strokes in total for reaching maximum height.

More importantly, it keeps you – and your vehicle – safe with the included overload protection system and the foam bumper on the handle. Also, I love the added side handles – something you’ve seen in several other models today – because it does make positioning the jack a whole lot easier.

It leaked oil on several occasions, though, and while the jack still works, I wasn’t too thrilled about the mess it made.

Pros:

  • Aluminum and steel construction
  • The quick-lift design makes it very easy to use
  • Includes an overload protection system
  • Side handles and wheels for maneuverability

Cons:

  • Prone to oil leaks
  • Doesn’t come with a protective saddle pad
Why should you choose between aluminum and steel when you can have both with the Big Red, the best aluminum racing jack

10. Nesco Tools 2203 Aluminum Low-Profile Floor Jack – 3-Ton Capacity

I’ll wrap this round-up up with a low-profile aluminum jack from Nesco. It was the jack’s sleek, sharp-looking design that caught my eye.

But after seeing it in action, I realized that, besides being a good-looking tool, it offers versatility and ease of use, too.

The jack features an aluminum alloy construction, coated in eye-catching, stain-resistant paint. Plus, the aluminum housing keeps the total weight at an acceptable 58 pounds. It’s not the lightest floor jack I tested, but it’s still portable for most applications.

What’s more, the extra-long frame and the low profile make this floor jack a suitable choice for low-clearance vehicles, as well, as it sits at 3.5 inches minimum. Despite the low profile, though, it’s capable of lifting to three tons at a height of 19.25 inches.

Also, I found the dual plunger lifting system very easy to use – it took me only nine or so pumps to lift the vehicle.

The saddle does show signs of wear and tear relatively quickly, but that’s something that can be easily replaced.

Pros:

  • A 31.7-inch, extra-long frame
  • Minimum 3.5-inch height for low-clearance vehicles
  • Dual plunger system ensures smooth and easy lifting
  • Reaches full height in nine pumps
  • Relatively lightweight and portable

Cons:

  • The saddle wears pretty quickly
Ultra-smooth pumping action, a low profile, and a sharp-looking design – the Nesco 2203 is a must-have automotive tool and welcome addition to any garage.

Best Aluminum Floor Jack – Frequently Asked Questions

1. Who makes the best aluminum floor jack?

What I often tell friends and family – and anyone else who comes to me for advice on automotive-related tools and products – is that going with a well-known brand doesn’t guarantee satisfaction.

Yes, reputation is essential, but only to a degree; what the floor jack’s capable of is what matters here.

There are brands in the automotive industry that have many reliable, durable, well-made products to their name, though. Arcan and Blackhawk are perfect examples of brands that I’m always comfortable with recommending.

2. Are the aluminum floor jacks good?

There’s a common misconception that steel floor jacks are more durable, rugged, and generally more robust than their aluminum-based counterparts. The truth, however, is that the floor jack’s strength depends entirely on the way it’s constructed – and not the actual materials.

Plus, aluminum floor jacks come with the added advantage of weighing a whole lot less – up to 40 pounds less – than steel ones while ensuring the same load capacity.

So, yes, aluminum floor jacks can be an excellent choice, offering portability and lightweight design without compromising performance along the way.

3. Which is better – steel or aluminum floor jack?

If you’re having the aluminum vs. steel debate, know that the differences between the two are so subtle that it’s hard to label one as “superior.” As someone who’s worked with aluminum and steel units – as well as hybrids – I can say that it boils down to your needs.

Steel is slightly less expensive, but it comes with a lot of excess weight. Aluminum jacks, on the other hand, have a lightweight construction, which makes them portable and user-friendly – but they’re not as budget-friendly as steel options.

Conclusion

I sure hope that, after reading my guide, you have a better understanding of how useful aluminum floor jacks can be, and what benefits they offer compared to steel-constructed models.

Still, if you’re not quite sure what to get, I’d recommend the Powerzone 380044 3 Ton Aluminum and Steel Garage Jack as the best aluminum floor jack for the money.

I’m not here to tell you what to buy, though. All the floor jacks I reviewed today are exceptionally good at what they do – and it’s all about finding something that meets your particular needs!
